Programming PSD chip via PSDsoft Express on Win7
I’m working on an old embedded system board that use some PSD835G2 chip as the main system memory. PSD835G2 is an old, discontinued memory chip produced by STMicroelectronics in the early 2000’s. The support web site was already removed from st.com. So, there’s very limit resource I can found for this chip, after struggling for almost a month, I got the chip programmed successfully.
First problem is to get PSDsoft run on win7. The latest version of PSDsoft express is v8.66, which runs only on win98~XP, but not my win7 machine. I’ve tried to install the software with compatibly mode, it did install, but does not recognized the irregular PCI-LPT interface card and thus not being able to program the PSD chip. Left the only choice to running it on vmware.
The second problem comes with the FlaskLink cable. I’ve make a FlashLink programming cable according to the UM0044 User Manual. But the cable just dont work at all. I wasted a lots of time to figure out what is going wrong here and found that there’s two mistake in UM0044 schematic:
I successfully program the PSD chip after fixing this two error, but is runs about 3 times slower than running on a native OS.
